World Oceans Day - June 8th

World Oceans Day is held every year on June 8th to raise awareness of the vital importance of our oceans, streams and waterways and the role they play in sustaining a healthy planet. A global celebration brings people together across the globe in a series of events highlighting how we can all help protect the oceans.

Happy Ocean in partnership with Ellen's Creek Watershed group held a stream and waterway clean-up today in honour of World Ocean Day. Twenty-two of us participated in a "power hour" clean-up and collected 30+ bags of garbage in addition to some larger items such as signage, car bumpers, shopping carts, drainage pipes were collected at two watershed locations.

Here are some photos of our group in action, we are so grateful for the time and efforts of those who participated today! It's amazing to see the impact that 21 individuals can make in one hour.

On take a minute to think about our oceans...
