Plastic Free Challenge - Day 14
Today's challenge is to "consider using reusable cloth snack bags". Reusable snack bags are an environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic, single-use ziplock bags and cling film, made from a combination of materials and fabrics.
The uses for a reusable snack bag are almost endless for both food and non-food items. Snack pouches are ideal for most snack foods: crackers, cut or whole fruit, pretzels, cookies, carrot sticks, nuts and seeds, popcorn, chips/crisps, chocolate or treats, cut sandwiches, muffins etc..
A reusable snack bag is an excellent addition to a zero-waste lunchbox and can be used anywhere, including road trips, the movies, beach, hiking, work, or school. Over time these reusable snack bags can be converted to storage bags for coins, makeup, rubber bands, loose game pieces, or other small items that you want to keep together.
These were available at the Etsy PEI spring market (and online at Etsy), as well as at Moonsnail and other local shops. You can also make these yourself, here's a DIY Reusable Sandwich Bag Tutorial and there are many more online and on pinterest.
